Alberta 75th Anniversary Commission

The 75th Anniversary Commission was established by an Order in Council of the Alberta Government in May, 1979. The Commission was formed to coordinate and supervise the province-wide activities planned to celebrate Alberta's Jubilee year. These activities included official ceremonies, re-enactments of historic events, and athletic and performing arts events.

Alberta Aberdeen Angus Association

The Alberta Aberdeen Angus Association was established in 1917, with 28 founding members. G.H. Hutton was the first president. The association was incorporated in 1963 with the stated objective of fostering and protecting the interests of the breed in Alberta. Almost half of registered Aberdeen Angus cattle in Canada are raised in Alberta, making it the stronghold of the breed. The association holds a "Super Star" sale annually, does performance testing of the breed, and is involved in a rapidly expanding export business. In the 1990s the name was changed to the Alberta Aberdeen Angus Breeders Club.

Alberta Artists Oral History Project

This collection was originally compiled by Helen K. Wright, who was commissioned by the Glenbow Art Department to gather reminiscences of artists and individuals working in the art field, pertaining to the lives and work of artists and the history of art movements in Alberta. Over the course of the project she interviewed over fifty artists and art curators, including Leslie Agghazy, Mary Andrews, Hanna Beeger, Robert Carmichael, Fred Carney, Anne Clark-Darrah, Lucien Compernol, Pat Conan, Ted Diakow, David Fisher, Leo Foulem, Francine Gravel, Harlan House, Douglas Haynes, Illingworth Kerr, Pat Kemball (ManWoman), Archibald Key, D. Knowles, Ron Kostyniuk, Kurt Kranz, Roy Leadbeater, Les Manning, W.J. Phillips, Naboru Sawai, Charles Scott James Agrell Smith, Jack Turner, and W.P. Weston. After the completion of the Wright project, Patricia Ainslie, Duncan Cameron, Chris Jackson, Vince Varga, and other staff members of the Glenbow Art Department continued to conduct interviews with members of the art community, including Sybil Andrews, Caven Atkins, Claude Bissell, Stan Blodgett (and others concerning the work of Marion Nicoll and H.G. Glyde), Charles Livingston Bull, Ron Davey, Rosemary Donegan, Jimmy Ernst (son of Max Ernst), John Esler, Terry Fenton, Bruce Ferguson, H.G. Glyde, Les Graf, John Hall, Peter Hassrick, Doug Haynes, MacGregor Hone, Yetsko Ironside, Chris Jackson, Barbara Leighton, Ron Moppett, Doug Morton, Tin Ng, Peter Ohler, Stan Perrott, Clifford Robinson, Drake Shelton (concerning his sister Margaret Shelton), Bob Sinclair, Jeffrey Spalding, Eilleen Taylor, Peter Thielsen, Clarence Tillenius, Nancy Tousley, Vincent Tovell, Karen Wilkin, Liz Willie, George Wood and Norman Yates.

Alberta Association for Continuing Education

The Alberta Association for Continuing Education was formed in 1967. Its objectives were to advance the standards of research, education and practice for promoting and facilitating lifelong learning and continuing education in Alberta; to promote and facilitate the communication of information, ideas, and concerns about lifelong learning and continuing education among members; to develop and present the informed collective views of members on public policy isses related to lifelong learning and continuing education; to promote and provide for the continuing professional development of members; and to promote and facilitate communication, cooperation and collaboration with other associations primarily concerned with lifelong learning and continuing education provincially and nationally. These objectives were attained through various programs that included an annual conference, a journal and a newsletter. The Association also established the Ray Jewison Memorial Award in 1992 for dedication, commitment and contribution to the Association over an extended period of time. Alberta Cattle Feeders Association

The Alberta Cattle Feeders Association was incorporated as a society in 1972, to promote and protect the business of cattle feeding and to better the interests of the members. It is based in Lethbridge. The board of directors is made up of two representatives from each of five districts in the province.
