Biographical history

Adams & Larkin were photographers operating out of Dawson City in the early 20th century. Their earliest photographs appear to be dated 1901-1902.

Custodial history

Nitrate negatives acquired from Bob Coutts in 1977.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of images which primarily depict miners working in the Klondike gold fields surrounding Dawson City, 1901-1902. There are also interior and exterior views of businesses that operated in the Yukon as well as images of cabins, houses, residents and leisure activities in the Klondike region. The fonds also includes a few photographs by George C. Cantwell, another Dawson photographer. Specific locations include Bear Creek, Bonanza Creek, Caribou Village, Eldorado Creek, Gold Run Creek, Henry Gulch, Hunker Creek, Last Chance Creek, Lindow Creek, Mint Gulch. Businesses and organizations include the Dawson Exploration Company Department Store, Arctic Brotherhood Hall, Home Hotel, Cascade Steam laundry, Sixty Mile Lime Company, Dawson Flume Hose Factory, Yukon Order of Pioneers (YOOP) and the Post Office. There are also a number of portraits.
