Biographical history

The Alberta Association for Continuing Education was formed in 1967. Its objectives were to advance the standards of research, education and practice for promoting and facilitating lifelong learning and continuing education in Alberta; to promote and facilitate the communication of information, ideas, and concerns about lifelong learning and continuing education among members; to develop and present the informed collective views of members on public policy isses related to lifelong learning and continuing education; to promote and provide for the continuing professional development of members; and to promote and facilitate communication, cooperation and collaboration with other associations primarily concerned with lifelong learning and continuing education provincially and nationally. These objectives were attained through various programs that included an annual conference, a journal and a newsletter. The Association also established the Ray Jewison Memorial Award in 1992 for dedication, commitment and contribution to the Association over an extended period of time.
