Biographical history

The Canadian Girls in Training (CGIT) organization was established in 1917 as a Protestant religious education program for girls from 12 to 17 years of age by the National Advisory Committee for Co-operation in Girls' Work, later known as the National Girls' Work Board. By 1960, the Board became the Canadian Girls in Training Committee of the Canadian Council of Churches. In Alberta, the provincial organization was first known as the Alberta Girls' Work Board, then as the Alberta C.G.I.T. Association

Records accumulated by the Synodical Secretary for Girls' Organizations of the Alberta Synodical of Women's Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church in Canada as a member of the executive of the Association

The fonds consists of minutes of the Alberta C.G.I.T. Association, correspondence, agendas, annual reports, mailing lists, and film strips
