Some form of the Alberta Fish and Game Association was established February 21, 1908. A meeting to organize annual meeting of the Alberta Fish and Game Association was held July 28, 1928; the first annual meeting of the Alberta Fish and Game Association was held in Calgary in 1929. However, the Alberta Fish and Game Association was not incorporated until November 13, 1946; it was incorporated under the Societies Act with the objective of promoting the cause of game and fish propagation, conservation and preservation. By the 1960s, the objectives of the Society were the conservation, management and restoration of fish and wildlife and other renewable resources, the organization and education of junior bodies of the Association, the encouragement of groups and affiliated organization interested in conservation of renewable resources, assistance in the education of Albertans in the values of wildlife and renewable natural resources, and the necessity of conserving these for future generations, and to present the wishes of organized sportsmen before all levels of government. Membership in the Association included any organized body whose primary purpose was the conservation, management and restoration of fish and wildlife and other natural resources, as well as outdoor recreation. The Executive Council of the Association consisted of the president, the past-president, the vice-presidents, the chairmen of standing committees and regional representatives. Standing committees have included committees about fish, game birds, migratory birds, big game, access, grazing and wilderness and predator control.
