<em>Dates of founding and/or dissolution</em>: The Fire Prevention Council was formed under the terms of the <em>Fire Prevention Act</em>, 1982 c. F-10.1. The first Council was appointed in 1983. The Council was dissolved effective March 31, 1994 by the proclamation of section 71(1) of the <em>Safety Codes Act</em> (S.A. 1991 c. S-0.5), which repealed the <em>Fire Prevention Act</em>;<em>Functional responsibility</em>: The Fire Prevention Council was responsible for advising the Minister of Labour on administering the<em> Fire Prevention Act</em> and the creation of regulations under the act; hearing appeals to orders of the fire commissioner, according to section 14 of the act, and any other matters assigned to the Council by the Minister. Predecessor and successor bodies: The functions of the Council were transferred to the Safety Codes Council in 1994. <em>Administrative relationships</em>: The Fire Prevention Council reported to the Minister of Labour. <em>Administrative structure</em>: The Council consisted of members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, who designated one member as Chairman.
