Biographical history

Alex Jadah (1926-1998) was born in Poland. As a youth, in the Second World War, he was part of the Polish Resistance against the German occupation of Poland. In 1944, he was captured and sent to a German work camp in northern Finland. Following the war, Alex lived in Norway before emigrating to Canada in 1958. He lived in Montreal and Calgary before finally settling in Sylvan Lake, Alberta in 1987. After stints at farming and selling photocopiers and insurance, Alex was able to turn a lifelong interest in painting into a livelihood. His work began to achieve some recognition, and he made a name for himself doing portraits. His clients have included such well-known Canadians as Peter Lougheed, Rene Levesque, and John Crosbie. He developed his own artistic style that was called "Jadahrt", and became known for creating unique pieces.
