Raphael and Louis Gurevitch came to Rumsey, Alberta as homesteaders on the Montefiore colony after a stint working on the Welland Canal. Allan Norman (Curly) Gurevitch was born in Calgary in 1916 to Raphael Gurevitch and Sophie Lieberman. Raphael was one of the first homesteaders in the area in 1906. Sophie came from Russia in 1912. Curly grew up in Rumsey intil he was 15 years old. He left in the 1930s, but came back to farm for 12 years after WWII.

The fonds consists of materials written by Curly Gurevitch, including a history of the Montefiore colony at Rumsay, Alberta, and an oral history interview conducted by the Provincial Archives of Alberta.
