Biographical history
The Alpine Club of Canada was formed in 1906, and the Calgary, Alberta section of ACC was established in 1915. The objectives of the club are to teach mountaineering and mountain crafts and to collect and distribute educational and scientific material on mountains and mountaineering. ACC owns a series of huts throughout the mountains, has held annual camps since 1906, and holds an annual cross-country ski race. The Calgary section is one of more than twelve local sections which share and take part in ACC facilities and events. It is a member of the Calgary Area Outdoor Council.
