Biographical history
Andrew Carson moved to Calgary, Alberta in the early 1890s from Ontario and operated the Carson and Shore Saddlery until it merged in 1900 to form Great West Saddlery. Carson was very active as a Mason. He and his wife Elizabeth Ann Fite had three children, Bertie Samuel, 1887-1902, Lulu May, 1889-?, and Ethel Carrie, 1890-?.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of Knights Templar certificates (1894 and 1927); Masonic jewel certificate (no date); Merritt Lodge, Hamilton, masonic certificate (1873), Royal Arch Mason certificate (1894), 14 Degree masonic certificate (1904), Shrine certificate (1906), Independent Order of Foresters certificate (1894), Memorial certificate for Bertie Carson (1902) and Diploma (Award) Provincial Exhibition, New Westminster, British Columbia (1898) for "Best Display of Saddlery" to Carson & Shore.
