Biographical history
Andrew Olsen was born in Crawford County, Wisconsin, on June 15, 1863. Following his marriage to Anna Marie "Minnie" (nee Olson), from Ferryville, Wisconsin, the Olsen's relocated to Minot, North Dakota in 1900. In 1908, the Olsen's moved to Canada, and settled on a homestead at Bowell, Alberta, north of Medicine Hat. Mr. Olsen eventually opened an implement and grocery store in the townsite of Bowell. The Olsen store also sold gasoline at a later date. Andrew Olsen was appointed a Commissioner of Oaths in 1927, and later became Treasurer of the Bowell Social Credit organization.
