Biographical history

Archibald (Arch) MacKinnon was born April 6, 1923 in Cadomin, Alberta, the youngest son of John "Lucky" MacKinnon. His parents had met and were married in Coleman, Alberta. He worked in the mines, and then enlisted in the Navy. Following the Second World War, he returned home to work in the mines, and then moved to the Yukon and worked in mines there. He then worked in the oil fields around Peace River; while there he met his wife Marion. After a brief stay in Whitehorse, they returned to Cadomin and Arch worked in the mines in Luscar and Mercoal. When the mines along the Coal Branch closed, Arch and his wife moved to Hythe, Alberta. Arch died on May 2, 1997.
