Item is a recording of the fifth day of CBC Arts National's broadcast of the 1983 Banff International String Quartet Competition, hosted by Ian Alexander. It includes performances from day three, four and five (April 26, 27 and 28, 1983) of the competition, consisting of Romantic and Twentieth Century works, as well as the competition's imposed piece, Movement for String Quartet by Harry Somers.
