Biographical history
The Athabasca Regional Recreation and Community Learning Board held their first Winterfest Carnival February 20-21, 1999. Events included sleigh rides, maple syrup taffy (cabane de sucre), traditional native cooking, cross-country skiing and snowshoe events, dog sled races, and log sawing competitions. There was also an evening variety show and artisan showcase.
