Svend-Aage Peterson Sauer "Augie" was born May 10, 1907 in Esbjerg, Denmark, the son of Peter and Christine Sauer. He received his education in Denmark. It is unknown when he came to Canada. Ethel Lillian Walker was born in Wetaskiwin, January 23, 1909 to Ralph and Emma Walker. Augie and Ethel married in Edmonton on May 11, 1929. They met while Ethel was working at the General Hospital in Calgary. Augie's sister, Mia, was one of her patients. Augie Sauer was self-employed all his life. He engaged in ranching near Scandia and Redcliff. He also operated feedlots at Tilley, Bassano and Scandia. He was a cattle buyer as well. Augie and Ethel had 2 children: Robert Ralph (1933-1939) and Patricia Elizabeth (1946). Augie Sauer passed away on December 14, 1980 in Medicine Hat.
