Administrative history

Planning for the Beaverlodge Cultural Centre began in 1989 when a group formed under the leadership of Doris McFarlane to preserve the old Beaverlodge Hospital (built 1937-1938) and turn it into a cultural centre. By 1990 they had raised enough money to have the building moved and placed on a new basement. After extensive renovations, the Cultural Centre was officially opened in September 1992. The building now houses classroom and workroom space, an art gallery, a gift shop, and a tea room.
