Biographical history
Founded in America in 1868, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks established its first Canadian lodge in 1912 and its first lodge in Alberta in 1928. Athabasca Lodge No. 328 was established in January 1950. The lodge raised funds for community projects and sponsored the local branch of the Air Cadets. Membership began to decline after 1958 and the lodge surrendered its charter in 1972.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of minutes of Athabasca Lodge No. 328, bylaws, a book of ritual, financial records, membership lists, correspondence and provincial and national convention proceedings. Includes photographs of national and provincial conventions as well as local Elk members in the 1950s.
