Biographical history
Alberta "Bert" Alexander Ingram was born at Grenfell, Saskatchewan in 1903. His family moved to and homesteaded in the Murraydale area when he was very young. Bert's mother died while he was still a child and his father was away much of the time so he got used to staying with relatives. Mr. Ingram received much of his schooling in Maple Creek. He spent many years as a ranch hand and rodeo competitor in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Montana. He placed in the Calgary Stampede and in 1927 was the Champion Saddle Bronc Rider in Saskatchewan. Bert married Agnes Chourrout in 1933. They had 2 daughters: Edna Mae and Ruth Ann. Mr. Ingram quit the rodeo circuit after breaking his leg and became Range Manager of the Agriculture Department of Research Substation at Manyberries. He worked there for 17 years until his retirement in 1968. He then settled in an apartment in Maple Creek. Bert Ingram died of emphysema on July 13, 1982 at age 78.
