Biographical history

Bill Pratt (b. 1929?) grew up in Ottawa. He became an executive in the construction industry in Calgary, and later was General Manager of the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. He was President of the XV Olympic Winter Games Organizing Committee, also known as OCO '88, from June 1, 1983 until the dissolution of the Organizing Committee in August 1988.

The fonds consists of: a U.S. $1.00 bill signed by International Olympic Committee President Juan Antonio Samaranch, accompanied by a card from Samaranch; notes on the bidding for TV rights to the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, accompanied by Pratt's commentary; a letter from Prime Minister Brian Mulroney which accompanied a souvenir gift; a certificate from the World Health Organization on the occasion of the World's 1st No Tobacco Day (1988); and a resolution from the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba with accompanying documentation.
