Biographical history
Charles C. Lumley, 1874-[after 1961], was born in Iona, Elgin County, Ontario. He graduated as a dentist from the Royal College of Dental Surgeons in Toronto, and established a practice in Iona. Due to his continuing poor health (suspected tuberculosis), it was recommended that he spend some time in the Canadian Rockies. He travelled by train to the Rockies every summer from 1902 to 1905. He 1904 he married Maud Mary Westren, and she accompanied him on the 1905 trip. He continued to practice as a dentist in Ontario, and lived in St. Thomas in 1961.

Scope and content
The fonds consists of his memoirs, "A Greenhorn in the Rockies", about his summer visits to the Rockies. Includes his reminiscences about Banff National Park, Robert E. Campbell, Emerald Lakes, Field, Fort Steele, Laggan, Sam McCann, W.G. Peckham, Stephen House, Takakkaw Falls, Edward Whymper, Yoho Valley, and other topics.
