Historique
Rutherford Gilbert Caley was born in the United States in 1900. He served in the United States Army in World War I and World War II, serving in the latter as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Corps of Engineers on the construction of the Alaska Highway. He married Gertrude English, daughter of Robert and Gertrude English, in 1944, and together they had two children, Timothy and Michael. After World War II Caley worked for the British-American Oil Company in Toronto, Ontario.
