Biographical history

The issue of the availability of downtown parking brought a group of businessmen in Calgary, Alberta to form the Calgary Downtown Business Association in 1955. An agreement was drawn up between the City and the Association to form the Calgary Downtown Parking Corporation, a body designed to provide adequate and reasonably inexpensive parking in the city core. In the early and mid-1960s Association members played a major role in the City's planning advisory committee. In the late 1970s and early 1980s the Association was concerned with the extension of Light Rail Transit.
