Biographical history
The Calgary Fish and Game Association was established in Calgary, Alberta in 1908. Its current objectives are: to promote the conservation of fish, wildlife and natural resources; to promote the non-commercial harvest of fish and game as a part of wildlife management; to assist in educating people to enjoy the values of wildlife and natural resources and to conserve them for future generations; to insist on continued public ownership of public lands and wildlife; to obtain and maintain access to public lands; to promote outdoor ethics and safety and teach and practice the safe use and care of firemarms; and to promote the cause of fish and game and wildlife propagation, conservation and to encourage the study, gathering and publishing of information on these subjects. The Association publishes a newsletter called Our Vanishing Heritage. The fonds consists of newsletters (1961-2004), general correspondence files (1967-2007), executive files including minutes (1968-2000), membership records (1985-1997), financial records (1968-2001), miscellany (1975-1993), photographs (1986-1998) and posters (1992-2002). Includes circulars and conference proceedings of the Alberta Fish and Game Association (1967-2003).
