Notice biographique
The Canadian Order of Foresters was a fraternal and mutual benefit society, one of several which descended from the Royal Order of Foresters known to have existed in England in the 18th century. It was founded in Canada in 1879. It was distinct from, but part of the same family as the Independent Order of Foresters (IOF) established in Canada in 1875 which now uses the brand Foresters. One of the major benefits of membership in the Canadian Order of Foresters was access to mutual insurance benefits. The Golden Sheaf Court No. 1128 was founded in High River, Alberta in 1905 and J.W. Sutherland was elected Chief Ranger. It became inactive in 1909.
