Historique
The Canadian Western Natural Gas Company was established in 1911 by Eugene Coste as the Canadian Western Natural Gas, Light, Heat and Power Company. The company piped in gas from Bow Island and Turner Valley to serve customers in the southern Alberta area. In the 1920s Canadian Western Natural Gas and Northwestern Utilities of Edmonton were purchased by International Utilities Corporation from the United States. At the beginning of the 1980s the firm was purchased by ATCO Ltd. from Calgary.
