He taught school for several years before going into the hardware business with his father. He moved to Red Deer, Alberta in 1903 in order to open up a hardware business. In the following year he became a partner of Edward Michener in the large real estate, mortgage and insurance agency later known as Michener, Carscallen & Chadsey. In 1933 he and his family moved to Sylvan Lake where he started the real estate and insurance firm Carscallen Agencies. Stan and Molly are buried in the Red Deer Cemetery.
