History
Edmund Charles Caswell, 1890-1966, was born in Thame, Oxfordshire, England. He emigrated to Alberta in 1901, where he worked as a farm labourer, and later moved to Red Deer to work as a fireman on the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1913, he married Emma May Kneiper, 1886-1964. They had one child, Edmund Charles Caswell, Jr. In September 1914, Edmund Caswell enlisted with the first contingent of the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served overseas with B squadron of the Royal Canadian Dragoons. Later Mr. Caswell returned to Red Deer where he worked at various kobs until he joined the local Alberta Liquor Control Board office. Mr. Caswell remained an active member of the militia during the inter-war years , rising to the rank of Chief Quartermaster Sergeant, Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. At the outbreak of the Second World War, CQMS Caswell went overseas, then was to Jasper, Alberta. Fter the war ended he returned to his job his retirement in 1956. Edmund "Ted" Charles Caswell, Jr., (1914?-- ) was born and educated in Red Deer, Alberta. He married Nina Doreen Rodway of Halkirk, Alberta in 1939. They had two children. He enlisted with the Calgary Tank Regiment in 1941 and went overseas. After the Second World War, he was employed at the Post Office in Red Deer, until his retirement
