Biographical history
In 1971, filmmaker Ron Brown moved to Edmonton from Vancouver and formed the company, Century II Motion Pictures, with Tommy Banks. Century II Motion Pictures was specifically a film production company that created films for independent companies and organizations, for television, and for the government of Alberta. Banks had previously formed Century II Studios, Century II Records, and Century III Productions as music production and advertising production companies. Ron Brown was one of five members who founded the Alberta Motion Picture Industry Association In 1973.
Custodial history
An anonymous individual donated the material to the Provincial Archives of Alberta. The provenance of the material is unknown.
Scope and content
The fonds consists of four completed film productions, elements and cue sheets for the Alberta television series, Heading Out:;1. Cy Hampson Wilderness;2. Country Vacations and Lakeland Area;3. North Forestry;4. Backpacking;Also includes outtakes and raw footage of subjects such as coal mining and tree nursery operations, roadside signs, ferries, bridges, the Lethbridge Japanese garden, and the Prince of Wales Hotel at Waterton.
