Biographical history

Charles Frank Maidment, 1888-?, was the son of Clarence Maidment of England. During the First World War he enlisted in the CEF in Calgary, Alberta on May 31, 1917. He served in France with the 85th Engine Crew Company, and took his discharge on August 11, 1919. He married Henrietta Mabel Young who was a nursing sister in Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Reserve during the First World War. She received the British War Medal and Victory Medal for her service. In 1959 she was living in Cranbrook, British Columbia.

The fonds consists of Charles' army paybook (1917-1919), Khaki University membership card (1919) and discharge certificate (1919); Henrietta's notice of medals (1959); and photographs of Charles, Henrietta, nursing sisters and soldiers (1914-1918).
