Biographical history

Charles Ewart Nancekivell was born in 1889 and moved to Athabasca from Daysland, AB in 1910. At various times he was secretary-treasurer of the town council, a notary public, sold real estate and insurance, and operated Athabasca Funeral Supply Company. In July, 1912 he married his secretary, Edna R. Cull, sister of Athabasca pharmacist Harvey Cull. Their four children, who were born between 1914 and 1919, were: Katherine, Ida, Ewart and Marion. Charles died in November, 1918. Mrs. Cull was born in 1889 in Guelph, ON. She was the town librarian from the library opening in 1946 until 1970. She died in 1975.

The fonds consists of photographs of Charles Nancekivell, his four children, Athabasca Landing in 1905, S.S. Northland Light, S.S. Northland Sun, and Frank Falconer's back yard in 1912. There is a letter addressed to the Deputy Attorney General regarding an oath of office, dated 1917.
