Biographical history

Charles Wesley Minue, 1867?-1957?, was born in Marysville, New Brunswick. In 1891 he married Edith Carr, 1874-1937, from the same community. They had four children, Graydon, Ray, Hattie, and Jennie. In 1900 the family migrated to Okotoks, Alberta, where they purchased a farm. Charles supplemented the farm income by working as a carpenter, and as an agent for the Hunter Land Company, and eventually the farm was expanded to an 800-acre farming and ranching operation managed by Ray Minue

Custodial history

The fonds was donated to Okotoks Public Library in 1993 by James G. Minue, grandson of Charles. In 1999 it was transferred to the Okotoks and District Historical Society

Scope and content

The fonds consists of business correspondence, invoices, etc. concerning the Hunter Land Co., farming operations, and the Eagle Butte Oil Co. Includes the annual financial statement of the Municipal District of Sheep Creek for 1926
