Biographical history

The Chinook Country Chapter, based in Calgary, is one of four chapters of the Historical Society of Alberta. It was established in 1958, the first local to be created after the HSA authorized the formation of branches. The chapter holds monthly meetings throughout the winter, at which members hear lectures, panel discussions and reminiscences about Alberta history. It also hosts such special events as a Christmas dinner, and historical tours. In 1987 the chapter published Citymakers : Calgarians after the Frontier. The name was changed to the Chinook Country Historical Society in the 1990s. For further information see Harry Sanders' article, "All Things Remembered : History of the Chinook Country Historical Society" in Chinook Country Historical Society : Remembering Chinook Country. -- Calgary : Detselig, 2005.
