Biographical history

Christine A. Nelson was born in Provost, Alberta in 1952. She attended university in Edmonton and London, ON. Christine moved to Athabasca in 1984 with the relocation of Athabasca University. She was in university management until her retirement in 2007. She was elected as town councillor for two terms: 2007 and 2010. Christine served on the Athabasca Heritage Society and as the editorial cartoonist for the newspapers The Athabasca Advertiser and The Athabaskan.

The fonds consists of the 1995 EBA Engineering Consultants environmental assessment report on the CN land in Athabasca; Athabasca Heritage Society minutes, financial statements and correspondence from 2007-2009; art work for the 1991-1995 Athabasca Chamber of Commerce fun map; original pen sketches of cartoons drawn for newspapers:The Athabasca Advertiser from Aug.1988 to Dec.1989 and The Athabaskan from Jan.1990 to June 1993. Also included are the following calendars: Farmers' Market 1981-82; Jones' Shop-Easy 1996; and Macleods True Value 1997.
