Biographical history

Charles "Chuck" Joseph Meagher was born June 2, 1931 in Delisle, Saskatchewan. He earned his degree in pharmacy from the University of Saskatchewan. He married Iolene (nee Anderson) on May 4, 1957 and had four children: Charles, Kevin, Colleen, and Shaun. Chuck was Assistant Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the University of Saskatchewan from 1955 - 1957. From 1957 to 1969 he was Director of Pharmacy at the Medicine Hat General Hospital. He was councillor of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association and the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association and was past president of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and past president of the Alberta branch of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists. Chuck was mayor of Medicine Hat from 1966 - 1968 and was a member of the Navy League of Canada and past president for Medicine Hat. He was lieutenant in the Navy Reserve. He supported the Progressive Conservative Party and was a candidate for the Conservatives in the 1965 and 1968 federal elections. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Chuck passed away in 2004.

This fonds contains one campaign poster and brochure, one CD with images, and 137 negatives from Chuck Meagher's time as Mayor of Medicine Hat.
