History

The Collicutt Centre facility was opened on June 15, 2001. It is an administrative unit within the Recreation section of the Recreation, Parks, and Culture department.

It was initially conceptualized as the East Hill Recreation Facility and then the East Hill Leisure and Wellness Centre. In March 2000 the facility was named the Collicutt Centre after Steve and Lorna Collicutt who had gifted more than one million dollars to the project.

The Collicutt Centre is one of four leisure centres operated by the City of Red Deer and includes a leisure pool, climbing and bouldering walls, field house, ice arena, gymnastics, meeting and dance rooms, a walking / running track, and carpet turf facilities. It also has child care facilities and several small businesses.
