Administrative history

The Recreation, Parks, and Culture department was formed in 1995 as an administrative department overseeing the Recreation, Culture, Parks, and Projects sections at the City of Red Deer. The Recreation, Parks, and Culture department reports to the Community Services division.

Custodial history

Records were transferred in 26 accessions between 1995 and 2022 per the City's records scheduling, retention and disposition schedule. Records were created as per daily business and operation function of the City of Red Deer's Recreation, Parks and Culture department.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of the administrative and operational records created, accumulated, and used by the Recreation, Parks, and Culture department at the City of Red Deer between 1995 and 2017.

The types of records include correspondence, minutes and agendas, reports, plans, maps, compact discs, photographs and videos of activities. The topics covered by the records include programming and activities, newsclippings related to City activities, Community Services Master Plan, Community Tourism Action Plan, Cultural Advisory Board, Eastview Community School, City facilities, Community Associations, Waskasoo Park, McKenzie Trail Recreation Area, River Bend Golf Club, library, Cultural Capitals of Canada, Bicycle Master Plans, flood studies, Canada Winter Games 1995, and various annual reports.
