Administrative history
The University of Calgary's computer operations are guided by the Computing Policy approved by the General Faculties Council. The Computer Services Committee is an advisory committee for the GFC that monitors and maintains the Computing policy. The Committee was first established by the GFC in October, 1964. The duties of the Committee are: the development of computing policy; review rates and rate structures for the use of computing resources, review allocation procedures for internal computing resources; to advise the Vice-President (Research), the Computer Resource Coordinator and the Director of Academic Computing; review programs and activities of the Academic Computing Services; to act as an appeal board to adjudicate issues over policy; to ensure the continuing operation of computing services for the University. The membership of the committee includes 6 members of the faculty named by the GFC, one of whom will be the Chair, 1 student named by the Students' Legislative Council, 1 student named by the Graduate Students' Association, the Vice-President (Research) and the Director of Academic Computing.
