Biographical history
George Harshaw "Curly" Galbraith, 1921-2010, was born in Vulcan, Alberta, and educated in Vulcan and Nanton. In 1945 he received his Bachelor of Engineering degree from McGill University. In 1948 he received a Master of Commerce in Business Administration from the University of Toronto. Settling in Calgary, he established several businesses in mechanical engineering, air conditioning, refrigerator manufacturing, automotive retailing, management consulting, and land development. His oldest and "flagship" company was Cumming Galbraith Ltd. He was active in Rotary International, becoming District Governor of District 536 (Alberta) in 1973-1974. Galbraith was also active with the Calgary Stampede, and was a member of the Glencoe and Ranchmen's Clubs, the Professional Engineers of Alberta, the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, the Shriners and Red Cross. He was an elder at Grace Presbyterian church for over 50 years. He and his wife, Doris, had four children, Sharon, Stan, Roger and Brian.

The fonds consists of records related to his involvement in Rotary International, and a 1924 group portrait of a large Rotary conference in Edmonton. Includes some business records and some records relating to his father, United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) D.H. Galbraith.
