Biographical history

Educator, economist, ca. 1935- Dhara S. Gill received a B. Sc. From the University of the Punjab and a M. S. and a Ph. D. from Cornell University. Dr. Gill began teaching in the Department of Rural Economy at the University of Alberta in 1970 and was appointed the rank of Professor in 1976. Dr. Gill has written or co-written numerous articles and monographs on issues important to rural economy, particularly in relation to rural economy and the third world and women. Dr. Gill was named Professor Emeritus by the University of Alberta upon retirement in 1997.

The fonds consists of materials created or collected by D. S. Gill of the Department of Rural Economy of the University of Alberta between 1972 and 1993. The fonds consists of papers, reports, course materials, international aid pamphlets and publications, research notes, and other materials related to women and rural economy.
