Historique

Harold 'Ross' Dale was born on September 8, 1893 in St. Andrew's, Quebec to parents Samuel and Margaret Beggs. The Dale family later moved to Carleton Co., Ontario and when WWI started Harold was working as a farm laborer in Regina, Saskatchewan. Harold joined up in 1915 and served for the duration of the war, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning home Harold married Christina Boyd July 29, 1920 in Silton, Saskatchewan and they had six children Lloyd, Fred, Bill, Harold Alexander, Douglas and Sharron. At some point the Dale family relocated to Vandura, Saskatchewan but during the WWII Christina moved back to her father's home in Silton, her husband Ross and their two sons enlisted. Harold joined the R.C.A.F. and Bill with the anti-tank division of the R.C.A. While living in Silton the Dale family was quite active in the community, helping with major building projects and serving on the various community organizations. After the war the family eventually moved to Vancouver, B.C.
Harold followed the Kabalarian Philosophy and believed in applying outside principles in chosing your name. This led to his first name Harold becoming Hilton and later his surname changed to Shearing, his wife Christina also changed her name, and became known as Alice Shearing. Hilton Ross Shearing died January 12, 1985 in Vancouver, B.C. and was cremated. His wife Alice Shearing died September 12, 1988. Their son Bill married Erma Greta Gee on Dec. 17, 1946 and they moved to Grande Prairie in the 1970's.
