Notice biographique

David Baker, 1892 - 1976, was born in Ontario and came to Wetaskiwin in 1911 where he married and had three children, Earl, Ross, and Oriole. He worked as a blacksmith until 1951 when he and his son Earl, who had worked for Campbell's Funeral Home for several years, bought that business and changed the name to Baker's Funeral Chapel. David Baker was a member of the Wetaskiwin Volunteer Fire Department from 1912 until 1956, serving as Fire Chief from 1936 until 1956 and was an Alderman from 1954 - 1958. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge. After Dave Baker retired in 1966, Earl (Sonny) Baker took over the business. The business was sold to Mr. Marlyn Kause, a long time employee, in 1981 but retained the name of Baker Funeral Chapel Ltd.
