Biographical history

The records in this collection, which relate to ranching in southern Alberta, were identified for the Glenbow Archives by David H. Breen, while he was doing research at Library and Archives Canada for his PhD dissertation, "The Canadian West and the Ranching Frontier, 1875-1922". They originate from the records of the Department of the Interior, John A. Macdonald, the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP), and the Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs. The National Archives' numbers and order have been retained. The collection documents a wide variety of ranching topics.
