This collection consists of photographs from the Dawson City Museum and Historical Society and is made up of several accessions, which have been arranged into series. The first three series are primarily images of Nome, Alaska, created by some of the most well-known gold rush photographers, including Joseph Duclos and Eric Hegg. Also included are images of Dawson City and Mayo, of which five were taken by William S. (Bill) Hare. Subjects include ships and shipping in Nome harbour, 1899-1909; camps, street scenes, the railroad and activity relating to the Nome gold rush. Photographs in series 1 were brought to the museum by Father Bobillier. Series 4 and 5 are primarily photographs of Dawson City and include commercial and institutional buildings, 1900-1909, mines and mining activity in the creeks around Dawson City; portraits of unidentified individuals and many of the Klondike "personalities". Other subjects include sports, the North West Mounted Police (NWMP) and the Yukon Field Force. Series 4 is from an album by H. A. Darms; series 5 consists of a selection of photographs of Dawson City and area, from a number of photographers. The textual material consists of two manuscripts written by Sally Robinson prepared for an exhibit on the Athapaskan people. The collection has been arranged into 6 series based on accession.
