The Delta Kappa Gamma Society was founded in 1939 in Austin, Texas, USA as a social, educational and professional organization for women educators. The main objective of the association is to raise the standards of teaching through seminars, scholarships, conferences, and other activities. In Calgary, Alberta, the Beta chapter was formed in 1964 and the Epsilon chapter in 1978.
