In 1961, anthropology courses began being offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology was formed in 1967 and Anthropology became its own department in 1973 within the Faculty of Arts and Science. In 1977, the Department of Anthropology moved to the newly formed Faculty of Social Sciences where it has remained. Heads of the Department of Anthropology: D.L. Mills, 1967; R.J.
