Administrative history
One of the early departments at the University, the Geology Department's surveys of the geology and stratigraphy of Alberta contributed to the development of the province's natural resources. In addition to undergraduate and graduate studies in geology, the Department offers an undergraduate program in palaeontology in cooperation with the Department of Zoology. Researchers in the Department have done work in fields such as ore geology, invertebrate and vertebrate palaeontology, stratigraphy and isotope geochemistry.
