Notice biographique
John Drummond, 1860-1930, was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He served in the Imperial Royal Scots Territorial Army for 26 years, and settled in Calgary, Alberta about 1911. He was active in military circles including the Calgary Business Men's Corps and the Army and Navy Veterans' Association. He was also prominent in the musical community with the Toronto Conservatory of Music, the Calgary Coral Society and the YMCA Symphony. He operated the John Drummond Photographic Company. He and his wife, Williamina "Minnie" Bruce, 1870-1949, had four children, Jeanne (Jakey), 1903-?, Marjory (Francis) ?-1984, Ian, 1901?-1917, , Henry, 1906?-1996. Minnie Drummond was active with the IODE. Marjory Drummond married Harry Francis, 1905-1987. He was born in Montreal, Quebec, and moved to Calgary in 1911. He was employed by the United Grain Growers, and was active with numerous organizations including the Air Cadet League of Canada, Calgary Flying Club, Alberta United Services Institute, Men's Canadian Club of Calgary, Calgary Chamber of Commerce (Aviation Committee), Calgary Curling Club, Earl Grey Golf Club, Rapeseed Council of Canada, Knights of the Round Table, Canadian Institute for International Affairs, Alberta Aviation Council, and the Alberta Central Credit Union. He was also involved in a group (Citizens' University Committee) lobbying to have a university established in Calgary. Harry and Marjory Drummond had one son, John Drummond, 1932- , who established the Calgary advertising firm Francis, Williams and Johnson which was later changed to FWJ Communications Ltd.

Francis' personal correspondence (1927-1985), and files relating to the Air Cadet League (1951-1958), Aviation Committee of the Chamber of Commerce (1955-1961), Canadian Club of Calgary (1936-1961), Canadian Institute of International Affairs (1966, 1969), Alberta Central Credit Union (1940-1954), Royal Canadian Air Force (1941-1945), Rape Seed Council (1967-1971), Citizens' University Committee (1945-1967), and United Grain Growers (1949-1969).
