Biographical history

Theodore Dupilka, 1881-1967, was born in Austria. Josephine Ryniak, 1879-1968, was born in Poland. They met in Pittsburgh, PA in 1907, married in 1908 and had two sons: Mike and John, before heading north west to Athabasca Landing to homestead. In 1911 Theodore filed on NE 23-66-24 W4. Four more children were born there: Rudolph, Mary, Katie and Joe. The children attended Baptiste Lake School. Three of the sons married and farmed in the same area as their parents. They married into the Gora, Gosselin and Mayer families.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of photographs depicting farm life, water drilling, a brush cutter, logging, homes and family groups. There is a programme for the Master Farm Family award, 1965, which was given to the Mike Dupilka family. Fonds also includes a copy of a cancelled cheque given to Josephine Dupilka for caretaking at Baptiste Lake School in 1927.
