Biographical history

Edmonton Public Schools Archives and Museum was established in 1983 to acquire, preserve and make available the archival and artifactual heritage of Edmonton School District No. 7.

Scope and content

The collection consists of music books, sheet music, programs, photographs, photo album, filmstrips, sound and video recordings of performances, and clippings pertaining to the Edmonton Schoolboys' Band. The band started up in 1936-37 and consisted of students in grades 4-12. It took over the trusteeship of instruments and uniforms of the Edmonton Newsboys' Band that disbanded in 1928. The Edmonton Schoolboys' Band was active in the Edmonton area from 1936 to 1969.
