The Edmonton Protestant Public School District was established in February 1885, the first local government in the Edmonton area. The role of the district was to establish a public school system in the Edmonton area. In 1907, the name of the district was changed to the Edmonton School District No. 7. Throughout the years, the District has expanded through amalgamations with nearby smaller school districts.

The fonds consists of minutes, correspondence and annual reports of the Board of Trustees of the Edmonton School District No. 7 and committees of the Board; student records; blueprints, plans and correspondence related to purchasing, construction, maintenance and renovation of school buildings; personnel files including employee contract and salary records; promotional and public relations material; curricula and teaching material; financial records, including assessment rolls from 1885 onward; and school district planning documentation. Also includes administrative files and bulletins from the office of the Superintendent of the District. Includes records of individual schools, including staff meeting minutes, financial records, student government records, and material related to sports and club activities.
